I Heart Faces – By The Book

It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in the I Heart Faces Challege. Too Long. I need the push to shoot more regularly. And the creative challenge. I’m busy with my day job, kids, attempting to work out regularly, and keeping my house clean picked up liveable. But it’s one photo a week. I can do that, right? Okay, okay, I totally failed the project 52 last year. Maybe one a week isn’t always doable, but if I shoot for 3 a month and actually do two it’s better than none!

This sweetie is my friend Jessica’s perfect baby boy Aaron. I’ll post his blog soon (because I’ve also been neglecting my blogging as well!) I was so excited when Jess asked me to shoot her birth and newborn photos. Especially the birth. What an amazing experience to witness a new life enter the world. Thanks Jess for letting me share it with you. I’m honestly a little jealous that I donm’t have photos like that of my kids’ births! There’s always the next one, right? Hahaha, WRONG!!!

Project 52… WEEK 52!!

Finally! If you want to make a year fly by but seem super long, attempt a project 52 with a group of talented photographers who are much more on top of things! I have missed MANY weeks but we are finally to the final week of our journey. I (of course) will be a few hours getting my photo up because I had so much fun shooting today that I couldn’t end the fun when the sun went down and my subject just left (it is almost 1 am here as I type this!)

Finally, just a day late, here is one of the first shots from my session with the lovely Miss Sara. We started out indoors and then ran all over town through gorgeous fields, jumped in shopping carts, ran away from mosquito breeding grounds and basically had an amazing time! Here is Sara:

Be sure to check out the final Project 52 entry from the lovely and talented Haley of Haley Brooke Photography

And to my P52 Ladies: I feel like we are leaving school for summer break without getting to see our friends! Doesn’t it feel like we should be having a graduation party of some sort?! It has been amazing sharing this year with you (minus my flakey weeks!) and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for each of you!

{Class of 2013} Riverside Senior Portrait Photographer

One of the perks of working at a middle school is that I get to meet some amazing kids. Another perk, is getting to hear from these kids as they grow into amazing young adults! I have known these 2 beauties for several years and am so impressed every time I see them. They are not only beautiful, but also smart and kind.

I’ve recently joined forces with an amazing makeup artist (who is also one of our 2011 brides!) and we decided that we needed to work together on these gorgeous ladies! We are a little ahead of the usual senior portrait schedule for these girls but early is better than late right?! Look for another post soon- We will introduce you to Lara Nelson, makeup artist extraordinaire and show you the behind the scenes action of the girls getting ready for their shoot!

Project 52 Week 48 {Childhood Memories}

So many of my childhood memories are centered around the holidays. One of the experiences that I treasure is the process of getting out Christmas tree. We never did the fake tree thing. The drive to a parking lot that was transformed into a tree lot thing. Every year we went to an actual tree farm, wandered the aisles of trees and debated which tree was the winner. With 6 of us, the decision was never an easy one as everyone wanted to be the one to find the one that we chose. Then, we tore off the tag from the chosen tree, hiked back to the front to officially reserve our tree and ate mini candy canes while Mom and Dad paid. Then a few weeks later, Dad went back to get the tree. Sometimes we went, sometimes we stayed. Some years we were behind schedule and took it home that same day. But every year we picked out our tree, cut it down and then enjoyed the smell of Christmas in the house. This year, I had the pleasure of photographing some newlywed friends on their 1 month anniversary. So many memories came flooding back when I saw this:

They started off their marriage with a tradition close to my heart- I hope that this tree tag is the first of many, many more to come for my sweet friends!

In the meantime be sure to check out the work of my {on time} photo friends starting with Suzanne Carey Hattiesburg MS Photographer
