Confession – Orange County Family Photographer

I love photographing families together. It’s awesome to capture the interactions between family members and to catch pure joy and happy moments. From time to time however, we are asked to shoot a group of 8, 9, 10 or even more people and to be quite honest, big groups scare me! It’s not just the organization part and the posing parts that are the most difficult either. Last weekend I photographed a group of 11 which meant 22 eyes that needed to be open (and facing me,) 11 mouths that needed to look somewhat happy, and 11 people to please. Well, most of the time this is what you end up with:

See, mom in front was showing her daughter where to look and dad on the right, well, I don’t know what he was looking at! And usually it’s the kids we have the most problems with! And then in the next set of photos one of the babies decided she was over it and the two year old wanted to play in the sand (well, everyone did!) and I am just lucky to have ended up with anything close to 11 smiling faces!
