Confession: I don’t really know how to use textures on my photos. I’ve also never bought any textures before. Till yesterday anyways. Last night I splurged and bought some Jessica Drossin’s textures and I think I may just become a regular texture user! I think I am in love. I’m still figuring out how to use them though. I also go a new (to me) camera this week. My kids, unfortunately don’t understand the excitement and were their usual uncooperative selves when I attempted to get a nice photo of them so I tortured our new kitty for a bit![]()

And I have loved using textures for a while just haven’t worked them into my usual work flow, not sure how I didn’t force Kristen to try them sooner… This week I grabbed a recent shot that a firend told me she felt like she could “reach out and grab” and put a teeny tiny super light texture on the background to make the butterfly pop a little more. I love that you can “feel” the butterfly.

Don’t forget to check out our friend Haley’s take on this week’s theme…. Haley Brook Photography

Awesome image – so striking! I use Jessica’s texture on mine too this week – love them! I am not too familiar with textures either, maybe you and I can learn together

Beautiful images ladies….they both look 3D! I think you nailed the textures!
You did a great job for your first time using textures!
You both did fantastic – I love new kitty…what a cutiepie – and I’m totally diggin’ the butterfly. The burst of color and the lines are fantastic.
