Tracy, Alexander and Lauren – Laguna Beach Family/Wedding Photographer

My favorite part of being a photographer is capturing emotion. Real emotion. You can tell when a photo is forced but when you are able to get genuine joy and love and happiness captured in a photograph you get to keep that moment forever. Sometimes capturing it is easier than others. Families like Tracy, Alex and Lauren make my job easier and are what I love most about this “job.” You can tell they are so happy and ready to start the next chapter of their family’s life together.

We started the evening in Laguna Beach for photos of just the three of them. Almost four-year-old Lauren was so fun – best friends with Laura within 5 minutes. She was so excited that it was finally “wedding day” as if she had been waiting her whole life for the day to come! We then went to Newport Beach’s Chart House for dinner with their closest friends and family. The dinner was lovely and Tracy thought of every detail. The cake and cupcakes were so perfect as were the hand painted wine glasses and surfboards with everyone’s name on them. The evening was almost as beautiful as your family and we had a great time getting to know you. Thank you for letting us share in your special day!

Project 52 Week 31: I Love Bloom

When Kristen decided to invest in her love of photography and bought a DSLR a few years ago, I was amazed (and frankly a bit jealous!) of how quickly she learned. After she taught me a thing or two I couldn’t allow this to continue (twin rivalry!) so I asked how in the world she was learning so emuch, so quickly and fortunately she fessed up and shared her secret. Can ya’ll keep her secret?! Shhhhh…. Photography forums. She joined forums where she could learn from other photogs- both those in business and those who shoot for the love of it. Because I couldn’t allow her to keep passing me up, I quickly signed up for one of the forums as well! My forum of choice The Bloom Forum is celebrating it’s birthday! So for this week’s theme I thought I should get them a birthday cake!

PS-You know when an idea is super cute in your head but you don’t have the time to make it look that cute in reality? Yeah. This was one of those moments! Sorry to not do ya justice Bloom! But I do love Bloom!;)be sure to see what my photog friends have in store for ya starting with Haley

Also went to Vegas with the Hubs and his family and got an idea when we were out cruising the strip so here is another (late!) take…

Project 52 – Week 30: Flying/Flight/Journey

I have been a bad, bad, bad blogger lately, especially concerning this project. I don’t want to make excuses but working full-time, trying to be good about working out and keeping my house clean and spending time with the kids has left little time (or energy for much else.) And that doesn’t take into account any photo sessions I’ve had. I’m tired. And when you have someone else to pick up the slack it’s easy to get away with being a slacker. But Laura is in the Bahamas (I’m sure most of you have heard) and so I am on my own this week.

To be quite honest, 9pm hit last night and I had nothing. I was gonna flake. And then Cole decided to take matters in to his own hands. He should have been asleep and I was frustrated with him so when he picked up his airplane bank he made with my sister and started fkying it around I almost got mad and missed the opportunity. But then I remembered there was something I had to do and let him stay up 10 more minutes!

They aren’t perfect… but the timing was! And now I am late for work but it’s worth it!
And be sure to check out the amazing Sari

This is cute and I’m sure he didn’t mind the extra 10 minutes :)

Fun(d)raiser Dinner

This weekend we had the privelege of attending a fundraiser dinner that was set up to raise money for research and the search for a cure for OI (Osteogenesis imperfecta) or the brittle bone disease. A coworker’s darling daugher Elizabeth has the disease and it has not stopped her from being such a sweet, silly and kind hearted and out going young lady. We decided that no event is complete without a photobooth so in addition to loading up Hubby’s band, The Flying Electric Candy Stand, we loaded up the photobooth props and headed out. We were promised a fun evening and yummy food and we were not dissapointed! Being married to the bass player earned my sister and I seats with the band and another fabulous couple soon realized that we were a fun table so they joined us. They were celebrating their anniversary (16th if memory serves me correctly!) by attending this event!
For those folks that stopped by our photobooth, please check out the gallery and feel free to grab your photo! There are still a few more coming so if yours is missing check back later!
Also, if you mention Elizabeth when booking a photo session, we will gladly donate 15% of your total to Elizabeth and the search for a cure! Now go check out the photobooth fun!
